Law Enforcement Leader and Public Servant
Detective Paul Dondorfer joined the Rochester Police Department in December of 2004 after transferring from the New York City Police Department where he worked as a Police Officer since 2000. After transferring to Rochester, Paul started his patrol career on the east side of the city, working the Clinton Ave corridor. In 2015, Paul was assigned to the US Marshal’s Violent Fugitive Task Force. In 2018 he was promoted to the rank of Detective and began working in the field investigations. He transferred to the Major Crimes Section, Homicide Unit in 2022 until he assumed his role as the Executive Vice President in January of 2024.
Paul also serves as a Monroe County Legislator, representing district 9 in Penfield, NY. In his role as a legislator, he was the Chairman of the Public Safety Committee and sat on the Health and Human Services and Ways and Means Committee. He is currently the ranking minority member of the Public Safety Committee and continues to serve on the Health and Human Services and Ways and Means Committee.
